Choreographer Heidi Strauss, Winner of the 2010 Dora Award for Outstanding Original Choreography, and one of four Resident Directors of Hub14, an organization that focuses on interdisciplinary work as seen through the lens of independent dance.  Strauss talks about how Hub14 supports the professional and artistic development of Toronto's independent performing arts community.   www.hub14.org  www.adelheid.ca

 


Julie Lassonde, movement improviser and performance artist with corporeal mime training, also received degrees in law from McGill University and a masters degree in law and society from the University of Victoria. Talks about her award-winning masters thesis "Performing Law" in which she shows how physical acts perform law in daily life, her interest in femininity and masculinity in art and social justice and her approach to dance improv. Performs with coexisDance, a group of independent dance and music improv artists Saturday July 24th at Somewhere There, a creative music venue in Toronto's Parkdale (340 Dufferin Street (Melbourne Ave. entrance)).
