Kathleen Rea, a former National Ballet of Canada Company Dancer, Certified Psychotherapist (OACCPP--Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists), Dora Award-winning Choreographer, Expressive Arts Therapist, Teacher of Contact Dance. Talks about her book The Healing Dance: The Life and Practice of an Expressive Arts Therapist, in which Rea reveals how she overcame a history of sexual abuse, eating disorders, and self-injurious behavior to find solace in expressive arts therapy.

Kathleen Rea is also Artistic Director of the inaugural Contact Dance International Festival, featuring 14 independent dance films from 7 countries. Showing June 12 2013 8.45pm at Dovercourt Penthouse, 805 Dovercourt Road, and June 13 2013 7.30pm at Revue Cinema, 400 Roncesvalles Ave. With Rea is filmmaker Jeremy Finch, on his film in the festival entitled Sketch, which uses hand-drawn animation and contact dance to tell the story of his journey as an artist.
