A 3-day celebration of urban dance culture in Canada featuring dance battles, workshops, panel discussions, urban contemporary productions, and an awards ceremony. Features the groundbreaking Skills and Soul dance battle, the first professional dance battle in Canada, with 16 internationally acclaimed artists getting paid and treated as professionals. Adam Paolozza, Artistic Director of TheatreRUN, Creator and Performer in The Double, an adaption of a Dostoevsky novella. Paolozza is a graduate of École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and Ryerson Theatre School; he has studied Corporeal Mime with the Decroux company Intrepido in Paris. TheatreRUN is recognized as part of the next generation of exciting and physically innovative theatre creators and is co-creator (with Why Not Theatre and Theatre Smith Gilmour) of the internationally acclaimed hit show Spent, nominated for three Dora Mavor Moore Awards, and winning for Outstanding Performance in a Featured Role (both Paolozza and Ravi Jain). Lata Pada, Artistic Director of Sampradaya Dance Creations. Launches 8-city tour of TAJ, starring Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi, and Canadian Actress Lisa Ray. Tour begins October 19 2013 in Living Arts Centre, Hammerson Hall, Mississauga. Built around exquisite kathak dance choreographed by 82-year-old South Asian legend Padmabhusan Kumudini Lakhia.
